27 barriers have been installed to limit motor traffic in the sensitive habitats. Public awareness of the preservation issues concerning the site will be raised by means of large information boards, to be sited close to the 7 bridges over the river. These measures have been completed by the laying out of a network of 3 extra discovery trails, covering a distance of 3,5km.

During summer 2005, an experimental surveillance and mediation operation was undertaken on the brotteaux (marshy flood plains) of the Ain. Entrusted to the ONF (National Forestry Commission), its aims were to get a better picture of the frequentation of the site, where visitor numbers are especially high in the summer months, to raise the public's awareness of the preservation of natural environments and to deal with any infringements observed of the site's rules.

Solutions will be proposed to deal with rubbish along the river: over 500 volunteers picked up almost 18 tonnes of rubbish during two clean-up operations organised on 12 April 2003 and 27 March 2004 !
