5 indissociable types of action are set out in the LIFE-Nature programme

- studies : the fauna and flora present on the site are closely linked with the river's life cycle: a precise inventory will be made of them, their conditions of existence will be assessed, whilst at the same time evaluating the role of the river in their development.

- land management : to allow local actors to make a long-term commitment, within a contractual framework, to the preservation of the remarkable areas and species.

- restoration or conservation work on the different natural environments, including the old branches of the river, dry grasslands with orchids, damp forests.

- des outils de communication : roving exhibition, journal, library, educational trails, dedicated mainly to the inhabitants and users of the site.

- tools for managing the use of the area surrounding the Ain : information boards, barriers.
